"Why You Wanna" (originally titled "O Chad" and "Chad Redux") is an unreleased song by Allie X which was originally featured as a track on her unreleased album, The Hard Way. It was later rerecorded for the ALX project in 2012, and worked on further in 2013 to be pitched to the Canadian Film Centre.

Background[]

"O Chad" was originally written by X and Morgan Waters sometime in 2010, and a demo of the song featuring production by Waters was produced in April of that year. X confirmed via Twitter on February 27, 2011 that the song would be a part of her then-upcoming album, The Hard Way.[1] It was finished in 2011 for inclusion on the album, but the original finalised version was ultimately never released and has not leaked online.

After the album's cancelation, "O Chad" would be reworked two known times for X's ALX project in 2012. The first ALX version was recorded in March 2012 and self-produced by X, while the second version titled "Chad Redux" was recorded in July with production handled by Nautiluss and X. "Chad Redux" was scrapped later that month due to the ending of the project.

The last known version of the song, titled "Why You Wanna", was recorded in 2013 and produced by X. It was recorded for pitching to the Canadian Film Centre, a film company which X recorded many songs for throughout 2012–2013 with the intention of being included in their media such as movies and TV shows.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Oh, Chad
Left me here heartbroken
Too bad
Thought I knew where this was going

[Refrain 1]
Now I'm tearing up your pictures
And throwing out your T-shirt
I'm routing through your garbage
And hiding in your bushes

[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm standing right above you
How can I tell you that I love you?
Now that I have to hurt you, baby

[Chorus]
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?

[Verse 2]
Calm down
I'm gonna kiss you on your eyelids
Hold still
This won't hurt as much as I did

[Refrain 2]
You took me by surprise, and
I was cryin' out my eyes then
If I can't be your lover
You're never gonna have another

[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm standing right above you
How can I tell you that I love you?
Now that I have to hurt you, baby

[Chorus]
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?

I won't be complacent
I found a hammer in your basement

Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
Why you wanna break my heart?
